Sweet Potato Browny

In Japan, somehow women give chocolates to men for Valentine's day. That is Japanese custom.
I guess it's the chocolate makers tricks!
I am sure that many Japanese women are eager for getting some fresh flowers from men!
This is my complaint against Valentine's day. Thank you.

Despite I hate Valentine's day, I cannot stop baking something today.

I love chocolates very much, especially thick and rich browny!
However, I don't want Taro to have chocolates a lot.

Thus, I baked Sweet potato cake tastes like browny.

I used 20g cocoa only. But the taste seems to be a browny. Very moist and soft.

Taro's rate:★★★
He likes it but it seems a little bit bitter for him.

~Method~
Preheat oven to 170℃ & spread butter to cake pan.
Mush 300g steamed sweet potatoes. Add Butter and sugar as you like. Add 2 eggs and mix together. Add 20g cocoa and 20g all purposed flour, and cinnamon and mix until incorporated.
Pour out the batter into the prepared pan. Place in the middle lack to 170℃ and bake 30-45 minutes. Test with a long tooth pick to make sure the centre of the cake are done.

Bak kut teh~肉骨茶~

Staying at Jun's mother's place. She made Bakuteh for us. Bak kut teh is very popular Chinee soup served in Malaysia.
Jun's father used to live in Malaysia before and she learnt it at that time. Bak kut teh is one of her classic meal at home.
Very spicy and exotic flavour. I love it too, while Taro seems not to get familiar with it.

Pot-au-feu~ Radish and Beef~

As I found out that one big radish was still left in the fridge, I made "pot-atu feu".
Use 3 ingredients only- Chunks of beef, thick sliced radish and Seaweed.
At first, boil radish until soften with the water after washing rices and drain off the water.
This process is needed to get rid of the bitterness of radish.
Then, simmer beef and seaweed with Sake and water until the beef soften. After that, add sliced radish and simmer around 1 hour. Add some salt if you need.
Serve with mustard and soy sauce.
We consumed with one whole radish at one time!
I like this, the most simple, easy and healthy recipe. Referred to Yoko Arimoto cook book. She is genius indeed.

Tonight, I would like to give my son a certification that he is able to use a spoon and folk properly now.
Of course, he still uses his hands when he is eating, however, tonight, he was spontaneously trying to use the cutlery and well done! Congratulations Taro!!
Really glad to see his great development. :-)

He is really pleased with soften seawood!

He ate a lot. After the meal, he ate a piece of cake(strawberry tower) too! His strawberry booming seems to be still lasting...

Family Gathering ~SUSHI PARTY~

For celebrating my nephew's effort, our family gathered at my place. Had "Temaki-zushi".

As a certain toddler named Taro tried to interrupt me, I was not able to shot them well. :-(
Actually this shot was before starting the party. Chopsticks are spreading out though.....

The pink colour ones are fatty flesh of tune fish called "Chu-Toro". At first I told it from salmon.
I have never seen such a pink tuna before!

Various fishes stand by to eat.

My favourite- Aji fish(horse mackerel)

He loves law fish very much. especially TUNA.

Strawberry Tower

Since my nephew passed the entrance exam of junior high school which he was eagar to get in, I baked sponge cake again and dressed it up shaped like a tower. Referred to cook pad.

The candles shows "CONGRATULATIONS", but it's too long spelling to decorate well. I should have decorate "CONGRATS" in short......
The tower cake appears to be a little bit leaning as the tower of Pisa. This is the fourth time to make sponge, but so far so good. I am proud of myself. :-P

Taking the top out, you can see how I made a tower. I cut the sponge to five strips and make 3 parts(2 and half, one and half, one strip) to roll them.
This is not so difficult to make it as you expect, isn't it!?
It takes a long time to make a tower, but we finished eating in a matter of seconds.

His booming of strawberry seems to be over....

Spaghetti Bolognese

To clean up my fridge, made Bolognese sauce. When the whole tomato cans taste a little bit sour, I add some sweet vegetables instead of sugar. This time, I added some pumpkins aside from an onion, carrot and celery.

Taro's rate:★★
Since he had some snacks before dinner, he ate only a little.
I don't want him to have snack before dinner though......

Fried Tomato Rice Wrapped in A Omlet

This is a typical Japanese food called "Omu-rice" which means fried rice in a thin omlet.
I prefer to use Italian tomato paste rather than a tomato ketchup when I season.
This time, I added liver paste as well. The taste got more rich and thick.
The omlet should be soft and melting.
Somehow we like to write something on the egg using a tomato ketchup.
Hummmm.... Lovely♥

He seriously devoured. Before lunch, he had one roll bun and one slice of pound cake though!
I will let him keep fit!! otherwise he will get fat soon....
